You will find that you can not set one up, without your parents permission, maybe they can set you up with an account with limited funds that belong to you. ~

Do all online banking services lag?

Question by John M: Do all online banking services lag?
I have online banking at my bank, but when I buy something, it takes 2-3 days to show up in my transactions log, and when it does, it’s all out of order (based on the order that I bought the items throughout the day). I haven’t tried any other banks, so I don’t know if this is standard for all online banking services.

Is there a bank that has really top notch online banking, specifically real time transaction logs (or close to it)?

Thanks!

It depends on the merchant sometimes and not just the bank. Some merchants will post the transactions the same day while other may take up to 2 or 3 days sometimes.

When did you return the item? A refund sometimes takes several days to post to your account.

Question by Carmen: Why don’t my tips show up on my online banking?
Everytime I go to a bar or restaurant and use my debit card, I add a tip to the bill. On my online banking, only the amount of the bill shows up, not the amount of the bill plus what I tipped. Does this show up later or is something wrong?

Most detailed answer:

Answer by Bear McNugget
It will only come out as one transaction, whether you tip or not. Therefore the amount you’re seeing is the full amount INCLUDING the tip.

My online banking says I have no accounts?

A question from ashleymoore7: My online banking says I have no accounts?
I have used my online banking to check my checking account balance many times before, though not recently – but I was at the bank just the other day and deposited money into my account and received an account balance.

I just went online to check my balance as usual, and it says I have “no accounts to display.”

What could have happened? Could someone have stolen my money and closed my account without me knowing?

What do I do?

Online banking card-reader vulnerabilities

The other day I ran across this video about online banking which I think you will probably find of interest.

A team of Cambridge University computer experts demonstrates how fraudsters could break through the very latest online security systems. Professor Ross Anderson believes that consumers are more at risk of losing their money due to lack of legal protection (Inside Out East, 26 October 2009). For more information, see www.cl.cam.ac.uk

A question from Cassie Edgar: Australian – Can I use online banking under the age of 18?
If I open a Commonwealth Bank account, for example, can I use the online banking facilities of the account (ie. able to transfer funds online to other accounts) if I’m not yet 18?

Top answer:

Answer by amy=)
Yes, its called netbanksaver. You must already have an account with commonwealth (savings account & card). If you do not have an account yet you can set one up at your local branch and then set up the online banking. It will be the same account but you will be able to access it on the internet aswell as atm etc. Make sure you have a few forms of ID. Probably call commonwealth bank first and ask what you need to do to create an account. If you already have an account then you can either call up (with your account & personal info) or visit your local branch to set up netbank. Not sure if you can do in on the internet though.
