Why Do Banks Make So Much Money

Combine this video with the excellent questions and answers given throughout this blog to improve your knowledge of internet banking.

Banks make so much money because they can create money, effectively out of nothing, by lending. Every single pound in your bank account was created by a bank, not by your government. George Osborne says that we all must pay more taxes and receive fewer public services. According to the chancellor there is no Plan B for the UK economy – but he’s utterly wrong. We could make one simple spending cut that could make all others unnecessary. Here’s Plan B: cut the benefits to bankers! Banks are the most heavily subsidised businesses in the world, specially protected by governments. While the money runs out for the rest of us, the largest private banks still thrive. This is because they get the biggest subsidy of them all – the licence to print money. Hard to believe? Martin Wolf, the Chief Economics Editor at the Financial Times, said it recently: “The essence of the contemporary monetary system is the creation of money, out of nothing, by private banks’ often foolish lending…” You heard that right. Private banks create money out of nothing! Then they loan it to us and ask for interest on top! If you’ve ever wondered why the bank buildings around the world soar higher than any palace or spire ever did, you now have the answer. But the banks don’t simply print money using secret printing presses in their basements. They don’t have to. Like so many other things these days, printing money has now gone digital. With the popular use of debit cards, electronic fund transfers, and

I verified my paypal account on the 2nd. It says the payment takes 3-5 days. So today is the 5th day, and on my online statement, it does not say paypal have sent me any money. My online statement is confusing me as it says there is some kind of transfer from paypal, but it does not say how much, when i click more details, it says i havent paid them anything, but it does not say anything about them paying me.

What can i do about this?

Thanks

Lloyd

That’s 3-5 BUSINESS days, not regular days. You will see the Paypal deposits show up online in your account. There will be two amounts. It should be soon now.

Question posed by Kyle B.: I am online banking and trying to move money from my savings to checking but it won’t allow me to do it?
I am trying to move money from my savings to checking account online, but it won’t let me do it. It’s all under my name and I am 18, will it allow me to do it if I call the bank in the morning?

Selected answer:

Answer by Truth B
The account might be set up for you and not set up for you to access the money. If the account is set up in your name you may still need parent consent. If you set this account up all on your own, assuming that you have the money in savings, you will need to call the bank. Can’t tell you what the bank will say in the morning.

Answer by padmedelacour
That happened to my brother once. He lost a little bit of cash.
For Example, if you put in 100 $ and that happened you would probably lose 10-30 dollars. You shouldn’t lose all your money.

I cannot say that nothing bad ever happens but I’ve been using Bank of America online banking for a few years now without any problems and they seem very concerned with security.
