I am looking for factors that influence usage decisions, the process a consumer goes through, the type of usage required by individuals, etc.

well the prices how easy the service is to navigate how quickly they can find what they want
There is no “plain vanilla” answer, except what innovation addresses the needs or pain points of each lifestyle segment. For example, for Baby Boomers it can address retirement issues. For GenY, innovation could address Internet connectivity. This is most evident as can be observed by the truly, global wired nature of their lifestyle segment. So, you need to think about your target segment and what products or services would make their lives easier, but most important, the delivery has to be both convenient and carry the perception that the deliverable is personalized to them. This seems to be the universal themes currently, no matter what innovation you are trying to bring to market.
