I know a lot of people, myself included, that have used ING for years and I’ve never heard a single complaint. I most certainly don’t have any.
I have used ING Direct for about 6 months now and I’ve had no problems with them. The only complain I have is that the website is lo-tech and it takes 2 business days to transfer money to and from your accounts. But the higher interest rate is definitely worth it.
ING are a well-respected multi-national financial institution, with enormous backing. They’re not some guy with a lock box, and a laptop.
I wouldn’t trust just any website – but ING are not in that league.
Make sure they’re FDIC insured. ING is as is HSBC. I’ve had several thousand dollars in both of these accounts for years.

Wife and I each have a savings account
Checking and my mortgage is with them.
And their FDIC insured, not sure what that means anymore though…
