My bank keeps asking me if I want to do the online banking. I keep saying no. I am concerned about the security of online banking. I know sending checks in the mail can be a risk to. However, I just think its a bigger risk putting your personal information on the world wide web for someone to gain access to. Is it logical to feel this way?

Its up to you. I have been banking online for 4 years. Never had a problem and never have to buy stamps and envelopes.
It’s completely logical. I’m the same way. I won’t do any kind of banking or bill paying online. I still pay my bills the old fashioned way…..the check’s in the mail. Online banking is not a risk I’m willing to take.
I’ve been online banking for a while and personally think it’s much more convenient and just as secure as using checks or credit cards. Since your account is online, it’s much easier to keep checking on it to see if any fraud has occurred. It’s also much faster and saves a lot of paperwork.
I dont think that its risky as you think to have online banking. Its not exposed to the whole world web. Its all encrypted and secured you go directly to their bank’s ocmputr system when you log in.
you have more risks sending checks nowadays the mail is terrible, they loose all.
i think online banking is the most convenient thing there ever was about banks. now you have full control from yr home. or office instead of having to stand in line at banks.
It is perfectly logical to feel the way you do. However, doing things the old fashioned way can have risks too. Your check could be mishandled by the postal service. People can steal your mail. People can rob you when you use the ATM, etc.
There are risks regardless. I’ve been doing the on-line banking thing for little over 5 years, and haven’t had any problems. When you use the on line banking feature, the web site should be secure so that your info is encrypted to protect sensitive information, like passwords, etc.
However, the biggest risk on-line involves conniving people that try to pretend they’re sending you email from a bank and ask for your personal account info. This is known as phishing. However, as long as you realize that NO ONE from your bank should EVER ask you to enter account info over email, then banking on-line is fairly safe. If you do get such an email, you should call the bank using a phone and report such scams. Again, NEVER respond to an email with a link to enter account info (e.g. PIN, password, etc).
On-line thieves don’t steal people’s account info one at a time (except for phishing, see above, which can be easily avoided). Rather, most will try to infiltrate the bank from the inside, in which everyone doing business with the bank is at risk, not just on-line customers.
So. It is understandable to feel uneasy, but doing banking on-line can be low risk and VERY convenient way to handle your finances. The biggest hurdle is to make the psychological jump to get started.
your bank is a secure website, don;t worry been banking online for years, never a problem. also bank from home at your leasure
