Unfortunately most banks and financial institutes have chex systems services as a liability,
I recommend you try opening an savings account at a bank that will accept chex systems,
I work at UMB bank were pretty much only located in Kansas City, Oklahoma etc. but a lot of the times we accept customers on chex systems and give them a savings account (you still have access to an ATM card and PC banking)
and we give a time period and see if the account is in good standing and then open a checking account.

Only about 80% of the banks use chexsystems.
This is what you do if you need an account. Doesnt matter if a bank uses chexsystems or not. Any bank manager can open an account for you. Even if you are listed on chexsystems. Just be honest with the bank manager and explain why you are on it. You might call 10 different branches of the same bank. You only need one manager to say yes. There isnt any secret code, the manager just has to say open it. Tellers wont be able to do it.
Also check with different banks. US bank for example has second chance checking. They know you are on chexsystems so your account is checked every month. If you bounce a check they will close your account. But they will give you an account. WAMU has the same thing in most areas.
If you have 100 dollars go to 10 different branches of the same bank and open an account. You only need 1 person to say yes. But I would suggest calling them first. You have to talk to the bank manager. He probably doesnt care.
When I was a bank manager and if my teller opened that account that person could be fired. How many people that said to me can you open this account? Its like crap I dont care. I never told anybody no, unless they were on chexsystems for fraud.
Just ask a manager.
At my bank if a manger allows an account with a check systems record to be opened loss prevention will usually shut the account down later so be careful with that. There are bank that dont use the systmes but I cant really name any off hand.
At chexvictims.com we offer a free list of banks and credit unions for those on chexsystems. Unfortunately the site is down right now but should be back up in about a week.
Yes US bank is a good option if you live near an ” in store ” location ( not a regular branch. The in store locations have been giving accounts to those on chexsystems without any problem at all, you may want to call ahead to make sure they are one that can help you before you go in. DO NOT APPLY ONLINE !

If you have been reported to Chex Systems, Bank of America will be unable to open a new account for you until you have been removed. You are normally on Chex Systems for five years (this was formerly seven years.) The new guidelines are as follows:
- Bank of America will increase the threshold for reporting accounts closed for non-fraud related overdrafts to $100.00.
- Bank of America will disregard Chex Systems reports based upon non-fraudulent activity that are older than three years.
- Bank of America will disregard a Chex systems report for non-fraudulent activity that is older than a year if the overdraft has been paid.
- Bank of America will disregard a Chex system report for non-fraudulent activity if the applicant completes a financial responsibility course and has repaid the overdraft.
- Bank of America will continue to inform customers about Chex Systems upon opening an account and at least 30 days prior to closing an account.
It will be necessary to bring all pertinent data and information clearing you of any liabilities to a banking center, and depending on your situation, a bank manager can make a decision as to whether or not an account can be opened for you.

They use a credit check..some people have been turned down due to credit but most are approved. They do not use chexsystems or Telecheck. Anyone can get an account with them regardless of location.
Special Notes:
You must call and request an application be mailed to you FSNB# (800) 749-4583 New Accounts
If you do not set up direct deposit, you will only get an ATM card for the first 4 months, ( then you need to call New accounts and request one ) If you set up direct deposit ( wait until the 2nd direct deposits hit the account ) call and ask them to send you a VISA debit card.
They also have a special added feature called Temporary Overdraft.
- no credit check -no applications – no forms to fill out – they give you an advance , up to your lowest of the last two deposits, for the $16 fee.
FSNB charges $1 fee for not using one of their ATM’s, plus any ‘foreign’ ATM fee

STEP 4 – Order Checks
To order checks for your account, just call our customer service department at 800-355-3063. A customer service representative will order your checks for you. You can go to to see the different styles of checks you can order. The cost of checks, which varies depending on the style, start as low as $10 for 150 checks. Delivery takes about two weeks.
