Not if you are smart.Dont save passwords on your computer and delete your temp files and cookies when you are done.Also dont fall for any of the many scams on the internet.
Not any riskier than giving your credit card to an employee at a store that makes minimum wage, or walking down the street at night, or driving in traffic. Life is a risk. You can either take it and take precautions or stay at home and never go on the computer or go out and die early.
I buy everything online and never had a problem.
The Web is safe, you just have to make sure your PC is ffree of Spyware which is what makes the web unsafe, when in fact it is your PC

a site I use was compromised yesterday.. luckly I was informed and able to change all passwords

I think you make it as dangerous as you want it to be. There are precautions a person has to take and if they fail to do that then yes, it is a dangerous place to be.
