What is an automated call? I wont actually be speaking to a real person and will just be pressing buttons? Or will I speak to a real person and they will ask me something to confirm my identity? If so what do they normally ask? In case I need to find some papers in advance.
Its the bank of Scotland if that makes any difference xD

It means that they will be calling your phone to confirm the request is legitimate. I expect you will be pressing buttons. Just have your account number and —- well if this was the US would say your Soc Sec number — whatever Scotland has as equivalent would make sense
An automated call would be a call made by a computer. You still may be asked for information. You may also have to input information. So it would not be a bad idea to have basic information about identity related items. I don’t know that it will make any difference bt different banks.
It’s usually a recorded call or voice that have been setting something to inform you that whether your signing up is success or not.It depends with banks but for safety never give your information details unless you know what is exactly to do.I hope this can help.
It is the banks way of confirming your transaction. Similar to when you get a new credit card and you have to call an 800 number to confirm. Sometimes you will be asked for your account number or zip code or nothing.
