A question from THOMAS N: How secure/insecure is mobile and internet banking?

Generally speaking, online banking is pretty secure computer to computer. Banks and most computers use 128-bit encryption, secure socket layers, firewalls, etc.

But mobile online banking is another story. Whether it’s a cell phone, Blackberry, Treo, some other kind of PDA, most are very vulnerable and very insecure. Next time you see a friend using a hand-held device to surf the net, ask what kind of firewall he/she has and what steps they’ve taken to keep hackers out. Bet you’ll get a really puzzled look.
