number one is stop using internet explorer. it’s a vulnerable browser, mostly because viruses are specifically written to exploit its security weaknesses, of which there are many. by changing browsers you’re automatically safer.

Browsing The Dark Side will ultimately defeat any types of defense.
1) Make sure you have a good firewall. Zonealarm or Comodo will do nicely.
2) Change to Firefox if possible.
3) Install “KeyScrambler”, it scrambles your keystrokes while running browsers, and puts in the proper keys into the browser screen. This prevents key logger viruses from reading what you type, protecting private information.
4) Install the Firefox add-on “NoScript” It prevents web site scripts from taking you somewhere else (spoofing), unless you explicitly allow it (blocking popup notifies you)
Keep your anti-virus up to date, and that should be fairly safe.
One question, are you using wireless? I would never do online banking that way – use wired computer only to be safer.
If you go to a lot of “dangerous” sites, never use the same computer for banking… Use another, spare or older PC for banking and for nothing else…
