I want to know how to clear the history of what was viewed on the internet completely and permanently. I know that you can go to control panel, internet options, to clear history, delete cookies, and delete temporary internet files but that does not completely get rid of everything does it? I want it to be all cleared off because I want to sell my computer but have done banking and all that on the internet and have looked at pages that are kind of embarrassing. The person that wants to buy it is really computer savvy and I just don’t want him to see the information that might be left behind.

Internet, options, clear history, delete….this is the best way.
Reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
What you can do to be safe is reformat ur hard drive then use a program like Eraser. When data is deleted it is still on ur computer, it really isnt delted just the information where it is located is removed so that the position where it is stored can be used again. Therefore once u have not overwritten something u can get the data back. Programs like Eraser delete the data the over write it useless 1, and 0′s a couple times so all ur data cannot be retrieved. check here for more info
Do a Google on “delete index.dat” You’ll find some tools (some free, some pay) that will get rid of everything.
I use a tool called “IE Privacy Keeper” Works well for me
You should probabl reformat the who shabang before you sell it. Otherwise something would always be tracable.
Then FORMAT the hard drive and reinstall Windows. After getting Windows Updates, then use Disk Cleanup and Defrag. That will make it fairly safe for anybody.
(He will probably pick his own Anti-virus solutions and such)
Or REMOVE the hard drive and sell the computer without it. Give him the RESTORE disks, so he can install it on a new drive.
you press the history button on the tool bar menu in the browser and there appears a split screen, which contains all the visited sites and their list. you can delete them one-by-one or you can delete them on the name of the day button, right clicking it. it has a view option which shows the history by site,by date ,etc. you better gothrough it. you can get rid of the history entirely
You can use ‘Free Internet Window Washer’. It allows you to erase Window’s temp folders, run history, search history, open/save history, recent documents, your browser’s cache, cookies, history, visited URLs, typed URLs, autocomplete memory, index.dat files. It’s free. You can find it at any of the following:
