TJ asked:

Someone I met on Yahoo Messenger a few years ago offered to loan me some money if I paid him back when I got my student loans. He sent me an international money order. I was suspisious, so I took it to the bank and explaned the situation. They checked it out and said it was good, so I deposited a third of the money and took the rest to pay off the bills. A few weeks later the bank called to tell me that the money order was counterfit and they wanted their money back NOW. I didn’t have that much money and begged for them to let me make payments, which they refused. I did send as many payments as I could but they took me to court anyway and was charged with theft by misrepresentation. My public pretender told me to plead no contest and finish paying the bank, which I did. Now I am finding it impossible to find a job because of my record. Can anyone help?
