Most banks that offer online banking offer a contact number for them as well. Your bank might require a social to first set up the online banking. Explain to the branch that its hard to get down there and ask for other options. Hopefully they ‘re willing to work with you and provide good customer service. Good Luck!

you should not be asked to give your full ssn. I would call the bank directly before doing anything else online.

Banks require ssn or tax id numbers to report interest or large (over $10,000) single transactions. They will not use it for any illegal purposes.

I’ve had a similar experience. I had to call the bank to reset my online account. I was able to do it over the phone by answering questions about myself and my account.

I know that when I started banking on line they gave me a number to call and the person on the phone helped me set up the on line account with password and an identity after that was established everything went swimmingly
