Has anyone experienced getting a virus in totally dependable websites such as internet banking websites?
Question posed by model_scout: Has anyone experienced getting a virus in totally dependable websites such as internet banking websites?
I got a virus yesterday from HSBC Philippines website when I was about to log in my username and password. This box popped out (like when ur downloading) and it seemed to be downloading something in my system. Then after that, 50 internet explorer windows popped out! and all have the same thing in them – a message from HSBC that has to do with receiving fraudulent mail or something like that. Need help! Has anyone ever experienced this? Is this caused by the HSBC website? I thought these kinds of website are safe and secure???

It appears that you became the victim of scammers. These people create web sites that are the copies of real bank web sites in order to collect login details. I reckon you opened the link to this site from the email that was sent to you?

they are supposed to be safe and secure. the same thing happen to me when i was doing a survey at pampers.com. do you have any kind of virus protection on your comp? try running that. if not the best way to get rid of a virus, esp a trojan horse because those are really hard to get rid of, save all your data to a disc or something and completly wipe out your comp and then go back and reload all your programs. it is time consuming but gets the job done. good luck!
I’ve heard of things like this, but only when users click on a link in an email that they think will take them to a legitimate business web site, but which really takes them to some bogus site. Sounds like you’ve fallen prey to that kind of trick. Get a good virus removal program (Spybot search & destroy is free) or use an online virus scan program to get rid of it.
