A pop up window keeps prompting me to install Internet Explorer?

internet explorer 7 is much better than 6
(tabs, improved security, etc)
just install the update, its not going to kill you
if you want you can update it but i recommend Mozilla Firefox, it is much safer, better, and faster then Internet Explorer
Go to and install the Google toolbar, it will keep blocking all the pop-up windows.

Internet explorer 7.0 introduces tabs i.e, you can browse many pages in the same window using tabs. Also it has phishing filter that gives more security.
But I would say that firefox is more secure, versatile and customisable. It also has tabbed browsing.
